Another Raiders legend has passed. Hall of Fame cornerback and coach Willie Brown has passed away at the age of 78.The Raiders put out the following statement on his passing.“Willie Brown will forever be cherished as a true Raider. He exemplified the Raider spirit Derek Carr Jersey White , originally entering the AFL as an undrafted free agent out of Grambling State before joining the Silver and Black in 1967. He remained an integral part of the organization through six decades. His legendary performance on the field changed the way the cornerback position was played and his valued guidance as a coach, mentor and administrator permeated the organization and touched countless individuals both on and off the field. Willie’s loss will leave a tremendous void, but his leadership and presence will always be a major part of the fabric of the Raiders Family.”Brown was acquired in trade with the Denver Broncos in 1967. He would play 12 seasons with the Raiders, heading to 7 Pro Bowls and four times named an All Pro.‘Ole Man Willie’s’ pick six in Super Bowl XI sealed the win for the Raiders and is one of the more iconic moments in all of sports.He retired as a player following the 1978 season and joined the coaching staff and never left. He has been a part of the Raiders organization in one role or another every day for over 50 years. It won’t be the same around the Raiders facility without him. (AP) — Oakland’s long trip ended with a disappointing loss at Houston.But after winning two of five games during a 48-day stretch without a true home game, the Raiders still find themselves in contention in the AFC despite falling just short Sunday with a 27-24 loss to the Texans.Now they begin a three-week stretch without leaving Oakland starting Sunday against Detroit, much to the delight of coach Jon Gruden.“I’m going to actually have dinner with my wife Friday night. I kind of miss her,” Gruden said Monday. “It’s been tough. I’ve sarcastically had fun with it. I’ve never seen a team go six weeks without a home game, but we were able to withstand it. We won two out of five. We would’ve liked to win three out of five Antonio Brown Raiders Jersey , but our guys are playing hard. I think all the travel helped our team bond a little bit. Using up that challenge in the first half might have contributed to Gruden’s reluctance to challenge a spot in the third quarter when Houston’s Duke Johnson appeared to be stopped short of a first down on a third-down pass. Williams then had his hands on a third-and-16 deep ball a few plays later only to have former teammate Gareon Conley break it up..INJUREDX-rays on center Rodney Hudson’s ankle were negative, but Gruden didn’t know how serious the injury was. Linebacker Justin Phillips went down with a season-ending knee injury and DE Josh Mauro (groin) and returner Dwayne Harris (ankle) were getting checked out.KEY NUMBER6. The Raiders committed six defensive penalties, leading to five first downs for the Texans. It’s been a recurring problem this season for Oakland.
