Offensive tackle Donald Penn played for Jon Gruden last year and he’s set to play for Jay Gruden this year.Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Penn is on his way to Washington with the plan of signing a one-year deal. Penn visited with Washington last week. The move comes at a moment when it is unclear when or if left tackle Trent Williams will return to the team for the 2019 season. Williams had not reported to camp and there’s been a report that his relationship with the team is fractured Dwayne Haskins Jersey , although Washington senior V.P. of communications Tony Wylie disputed that account on Monday.Penn spent the last five seasons with the Raiders and also played for the elder Gruden brother while with the Buccaneers in his first three NFL seasons. Washington head coach Jay Gruden was on the Bucs staff as an offensive assistant in those seasons, but moved on to other things when his brother departed after the 2008 season. Bruce Allen continues to do Bruce Allen things. With the relationship between Washington and left tackle Trent Williams fractured, the Washington team president continues to believe that the passage of time will somehow unfracture the relationship, resulting in Williams walking through the door, reporting for duty, and playing for the team.Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Washington has told multiple teams that Williams will not be traded. Teams repeatedly have inquired Wes Martin Jersey , per Schefter, and teams repeatedly have been rebuffed.Washington reportedly believes that training-camp fines in the amount of $40,000 per day will result in Williams eventually caving. But Williams isn’t flinching, either; with no intention to ever return to the team (and no game checks from which to withhold the fine amounts), he believes the team will have no way to recover the $40,000 per day.Signed through 2020 Womens Bryce Love Jersey , the two remaining years of Williams’ contract will toll if he doesn’t report in time to get credit for 2019. from nearly 20 years ago, Williams needs to be on the 53-man roster for at least eight games to safely qualify. Two years ago, Texans tackle Duane Brown showed up in time for 2017 contract-year credit, and he was dealt to Seattle before the trade deadline. Whether Williams follows that same path remains to be seen; however, the fact that Williams reportedly believes the team bungled the handling of the benign tumor on his head makes this situation different. Williams hasn’t wavered in his desire to never play for Washington again. He’s due to make $10.85 million this year, and not playing would expose him to a bonus forfeiture of $1.62 million. And Washington presumably would go after it; when Allen was the G.M. of the Buccaneers https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-terry-mclaurin-jersey , he traded for quarterback Jake Plummer. Plummer retired in lieu of playing for the Bucs, and Allen pursued recovery of signing bonus money that the Bucs hadn’t even paid to Plummer.

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ season is over Womens James Conner Jersey , but if you think the news surrounding the black-and-gold is over — think again. For the drama-filled Steelers, things are just heating up, and this is where the daily links article comes in. You might have missed some key news, and we fill you in and give you the latest, and sometimes greatest, news surrounding the Steelers.Today in the Black-and-gold links article we take a look at how Hall of Fame, and greatest NFL wide receiver of all-time, Jerry Rice was recently asked about Antonio Brown’s situation in Pittsburgh, and what he thought about the San Francisco 49ers acquiring the prolific receiver.Of course, Rice would be on board with such a transaction taking place, but he also said some stuff which doesn’t make any sense. Let me clarify, maybe he made a comment on something he doesn’t truly understand because he isn’t in Pittsburgh.Either way, Rice has had better days, when it comes to commenting on current life in the NFL.Let’s get to the news:Tim Benz: Jerry Rice makes insane comments about Steelers’ Antonio BrownBy: Tim Benz T. J. Watt Jersey , Pittsburgh Tribune-ReviewUpdated 4 hours agoSteelers wide receiver Antonio Brown may have a$20,000 G.O.A.T ring. But when it comes to NFL wide receivers, San Francisco legend Jerry Rice is still the G.O.A.T — Greatest Of All Time.Rice is the all-time leader in receiving yards, receptions and touchdowns. He isn’t the G.O.A.T when it comes to being a sports talk radio guest, though.Rice appeared on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco this week and made some remarkably quizzical comments.“If you can get a guy like that, a guy that can really add to the offense of the San Francisco 49ers, where you can just let those guys play, I think you have to go for it,” Rice said.OK. That’s understandable. Then Rice went off the deep end. When asked about the notion of the 49ers trying to acquire Brown, Rice blew off any belief that the disgruntled star would be a clubhouse problem, simply pinning his insubordination on his unhappiness with Mike Tomlin’s relationship with Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh.”He wants to get out,” Rice said of Brown. “But this guy, he is a team player.”Is he? Since when? What part about skipping meetings and practices and refusing MRI’s makes him a team player? Do team players go AWOL for a full week, then show up for games expecting to play?Do team players stomp around in anger on the sideline Jerome Bettis Jersey White , stream live video from the locker room, show up their quarterbacks, sulk when they don’t get a lot of touches even when their team wins and absorb celebration penalties despite instructions not to do so?That’s not being a team player. People think A.B. is a team player because he works hard. He does work hard. But working hard doesn’t counter selfishness. As silly as that assessment may be, what Rice said next was even crazier.”People have to realize, too, (tight end) George Kittle is going to get doubled. All of a sudden, defensive coordinators, they are going to want to take him out of the ball game,” Rice continued. “And you need someone on the other side that’s going to complement him where he can take that double-coverage off George Kittle, and they work together, and they become a tandem.”I’m sorry, did Rice say that Brown would “complement” Kittle? Not the other way around?Antonio Brown, a “complement” to a tight end?Imagine someone telling Brown that.Imagine someone telling Rice he was a “complement” to Brent Jones. Or a “tandem” with him. It is barely accurate to say Rice was a tandem with John Taylor. It’d be Brown — with everyone else as a “complement” to him. And, dear Lord James Conner Jersey White , can you imagine how far into the ear of Jimmy Garoppolo Brown would be? He was starting to drive Roethlisberger nuts by the end of last year, if not before.(To read more, click the link in the headline...)Carter’s Classroom: Heyward, Tuitt tops at tacklingBy: Chris Carter, DKPittsburghSportsAll season, we kept track of the Steelers’ missed tackles to monitor how efficient their defense was at bringing down the ball-carrier. While the week-to-week numbers were always interesting, the season totals give us a wealth of information to evaluate. The 2017 Steelers were one of the worst tackling teams in the NFL. Per Pro Football Focus, their tackle grades showed a group that was missing tackles left and right:We decided to focus on tackling against both the run and the pass, considering how many offenses use short passes as an extended running game. The Steelers did improve this year, and the numbers bear this out. There are interesting numbers to evaluate here, like Sean Davis leading the team in snaps, made tackles and missed tackles. But we wanted to give an in-depth look at what different numbers mean for a player’s effectiveness.(To read more, click the link in the headline...)Can underwhelming rookie James Washington take on bigger role in Steelers offense?By: Chris Adamski, Pittsburgh Tribune-ReviewWhile the debate rages on about if the Pittsburgh Steelers should trade superstar Antonio Brown Womens Jerome Bettis Jersey , an under-discussed aspect of the situation is how the organization would replace him. It’s true, should Brown be shipped out, JuJu Smith-Schuster would assume the role as No. 1 wide receiver. But that leaves a trickle-down effect. In that scenario, Smith-Schuster will draw the focus of an opposing defense.Who is good enough to take advantage on the other side?Who will emerge as the No. 2?With all apologies to Eli Rogers and Ryan Switzer — each of whom have roles and perform them well — they aren’t No. 2’s. The only internal option with a ceiling like that is James Washington.Washington was a highly-productive college star who wowed in training camp and during the preseason .He was so good in August that, before he played a regular-season game, the Steelers PR staff was already comparing him to Steelers Pro Bowl receivers of the recent past.Of course, Washington’s rookie season didn’t turn out how some predicted or how the Steelers hoped it would. The second-round pick had 16 catches for 217 yards and a touchdown. He was deactivated for two of the Steelers’ 16 games, was not targeted in two others and finished without a reception eight times.According to Pro Football Focus, for any player targeted at least 33 times, Washington was tied for last in the NFL in receiving yards per route run (0.57).In other words, it wasn’t a rookie season that would inspire confidence for 2019.Pro Football Focus’ player grades can be subjective, but its evaluation of Washington over the season’s final three games express his inconsistency as a rookie. Washington had his best game in the Week 15 win against New England , his second-worst game the following week at New Orleans and then his second-best game in the finale against Cincinnati. Then again, Washington’s usage by the coaching staff — perhaps this is more of an effect of the above than a cause — also was wildly inconsistent. to playing 70 offensive snaps this next. SANTA CLARA Antonio Brown Jersey White , Calif. (AP) — Jon Gruden knows he sometimes went over the top in his praise of quarterbacks in his old job as an analyst at ESPN.It seemed like any time a quarterback went to "Gruden's QB Camp" or was picked in the draft, Gruden was always full of compliments. The praise for Kansas City's second-year star Patrick Mahomes is on an even different level."His overall skill set is sickening. It really is," Gruden said. "He's double-jointed. He can throw the ball from any platform possible. Running to his left, fading backward. He can get out of trouble. I compliment everybody, I've been accused of that, but this guy has off-the-chart arm talent. Skill level is unbelievable. "He has a playing style that reminds me of (Brett) Favre. He's a young Favre. I think that's why Andy Reid went and got him. He won't quit on any play. He makes a lot of plays when there's nothing there. I don't have time to talk about him anymore."Gruden now must devise a plan to slow Mahomes when his Oakland Raiders (2-9) host the Chiefs (9-2) on Sunday in what appears to be a major mismatch.Led by Mahomes' 37 touchdown passes — the third most ever through 11 games — the Chiefs have been a nearly unstoppable force on offense. Coach Andy Reid's squad ranks second in the NFL with 404 points and is on pace to become the first team since at least 1960 to average more than 7.0 yards per play. But everything hasn't been perfect for Mahomes, who committed five turnovers in Kansas City's last game, a 54-51 loss to the Rams on Nov. 19."Every experience, bad or good, you have to learn from," Mahomes said. "You take the positives. We had a lot of successful plays and successful things happen in that game, but you have to find ways to win them in the end."Here are some other things to watch:EB'S BACK, MAYBEChiefs safety Eric Berry returned to the practice field this week for the first time since the early weeks of training camp, when he became sidelined by a heel injury. But considering Berry has not played at all since August, it is unlikely he will be available for Kansas City's trip to Oakland."It's a great thing to see him back healthy," Reid said. "This is killing him to watch. He loves to play. It tears him up not to be out there, but at the same time we have to do it smart."FAST START, SLOW FINISHOne thing the Raiders have done well this year is start games fast. Their 34 points on the opening drive rank fifth best in the NFL this season. What's happened after that has been the problem. Oakland has the third-worst offense the rest of the game, averaging just 1.32 points per drive after that.STREAKING JONESChiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones was the AFC's defensive player of the month, another line to a resume that could land him a big contract extension this offseason. Jones has nine sacks this season, including at least one each of the past seven weeks. He had a pair of sacks against the Cardinals and the Rams prior to the bye week, and he had a season-high three tackles for loss in Los Angeles.DANGEROUS RETURNSOakland was burned last week by a poorly placed punt by rookie Johnny Townsend that led to a 70-yard touchdown return by Baltimore's Cyrus Jones. Townsend Bo Jackson Jersey White , a fifth-round pick, has struggled this year, ranking 30th out of 32 qualifying punters in net average (37.7 yards), last in gross average (43.5 yards), and last in percentage of punts downed inside the 20-yard line (18.4 percent). That could be an issue against Tyreek Hill, who leads the NFL with four punt return TDs since entering the league in 2016."We have to do a better job than we did last week," Gruden said. "The one punt return we've given up, we didn't hit our landmark. We gave them a low hanging punt that gave him a two-way go, and that's hard to defend. If we do that against this guy, we'll have very little chance to win this game. This guy is really unique. Tyreek Hill, he's a unique skill set. You have to limit his opportunities every way you can."REUNION WEEKThe relationship between Gruden and Reid goes back decades to when they spent three years together as offensive assistants on Mike Holmgren's staff in Green Bay from 1992-94. That's where the two really started to build the foundation of the offenses they'd eventually run for years as successful head coaches in the NFL." a ton from a great head coach," Reid recalled. "Jon and I spent a lot of time together, along with Steve Mariucci, we were the youngest guys on the staff. We all kind of bonded and did our thing. We did a lot of the go-fer work, which we loved. Great learning experience and great foundation to build on." The Raiders and Rams got through their first day of their joint practices without any big fights, but Thursday’s session has been a bit different.Per multiple reports from the practice, Raiders tackle Tyler Roemer got into it with members of the Rams and punches were thrown before things cooled down. Rams head coach Sean McVay spoke to his players after that incident, which came after an earlier scuffle involving Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald and Raiders right guard Gabe Jackson.Jackson came out of that unscathed, but his day took a turn for the worse a short time later. Michael Gehlken of the reports Jackson was unable to put weight on one of his legs after getting hurt and he was carted off the field to undergo further evaluation. The nature of Jackson’s injury remains to be seen, but any extended absence would be a blow to an offensive line that will already be without left guard Richie Incognito for the first two weeks of the season.

Patriots fans still smarting over 2005 Champ Bailey interceptionWelcome to the May doldrums! With the splash of free agency and the draft drying up in the soon-to-be summer sun, it’s normal for sports writers to look back on what could have been in their team’s history had things gone just a little different. One such writer, Pat Lane, from Mile High Report’ssister site, Pats Pulpit, scanned the spartan history of injustices against his team and somehow settled on one of the greatest plays in Champ Bailey’s career, the 99-yard non-scoring interception during the divisional round of the 2005 playoffs. You may review the article, here. One of the worst in NFL history? Ramifications? Come on Pat. You know better than that. Even over here in Broncos Country, we all know what the worst call in NFL history was and it pains us to say it.Just don’t tell Raiders fans we agree with them.Pat’s description of the play is entirely accurate. Tom Brady tossed an interception to Champ Bailey in the red zone and Champ ran it all the way back and had the ball knocked out of his hand at the 1-yard line. The refs called it as they saw it and the rest is history. Then Bill Belichick had the play reviewed.Being 2005, there was no pylon cam, no sideline cam, no other angles that definitively showed the ball’s location once it was knocked from 2019 Hall of Fame inductee Champ Bailey’s hands. Pat says it himself, there just isn’t a conclusive picture. Pat then goes full Zapruder, breaking down the end of the play. He carefully documents the location of the ball while completely discounting the angle of the shots. None of the photos adequately depict the ball or the goal line in relation to the sideline and goal line. The photos were taken from the roving camera-mobile thing, likely around the Patriots 15-yard line. It’s hardly an angle where a single yard can be adequately judged. For better or worse, without clear photographic evidence Von Miller Jersey White , which the video wasn’t then and the photos aren’t now, deference must be given to the refs on the field and their verdict still holds true to this day.Like in 2013 and 2015, the 2005 Patriots were no match for the Denver Broncos. Despite their tremendous success (free of controversy, scandal, and consternation), it’s interesting to see them return to one of their worst post-season losses and wonder what could have been. I know the Patriots and their fans love to create narratives where they are somehow the underdog to rally support for their team as though theirs isn’t one of the most impressive sports dynasties in sports history, but is this really the best hill on which to plant that narrative? Despite all the photos... CHAMP BAILEY IS STILL THERE... You know, out at the 1-yard line. If we’re breaking down tragedies on video, I suggest Pat look at this incredibly creepy mattress commercial that airs locally in New England. What is up with this nightmare? What’s with the turtleneck? What’s with the elongated stares? Why establish opulence only to reveal a jail cell-like room with no windows? I hold the other fellow in the commercial as complicit in whatever nefarious acts (crimes?) Tom is about to commit on this spartan and likely overpriced mattress set. “Can I get you anything?” Yeah, dude, how about a damn pillow?! Not with the chance to be taught football skills by former NFL players, even a Hall of Famer. As the latest portion of the league’s Huddle for 100 initiative designed to encourage people nationwide to “donate 100 minutes of your time, and help shape what your community will look like for the next 100 years,” the Huddle for Healthy Youth event occurred hours before the Hall of Fame game between the Broncos and Falcons. On a field in an area a few miles from the hall, the kids ran through drills under the guidance for emcee Shawn Crable, who played for the Patriots; Bobby Taylor, who spent 10 years in the NFL; and Hall of Fame member Joe DeLamielleure. While the football workouts were an important part, the retired players emphasized the value of promoting community service.“This is about building character and taking care of our home,” Crable said. “I used to run around in this neighborhood. I’m excited to do something I love, play football, but also to help the community.”An underserved community.“This builds bridges,” Taylor said. “We don’t see enough of these kind of things. I grew up in a neighborhood like this. When the people saw the kids picking up (trash), they appreciated what was doing on and what is being taught to these kids.“It goes a long way.”How far?Consider that many of the youngsters involved in the cleanup and makeshift clinic have nowhere to go, no means of transportation and little to do during the summer. The Stack Metropolitan Housing Authority that oversaw the event — along with the Hall of Fame and NFL personnel — can offer little more than free lunches to the kids during the summer when school is out. There are smaller programs such as planting vegetable boxes or cooking and healthy eating instructions, but nothing on the scale of what took place at South East Community Center John Elway Jersey , which also included youth football coaches from USA Football. bag that also included a Play 60 football.“This is the first time we’ve had anything of this scale in our community,” said Lisa Seeden, the resident services director at the housing authority. “It really speaks to the neighborhood.”The Huddle for 100 is one of many league programs celebrating its 100th season, which begins for real on Sept. 5 when the Bears host the Packers. A hunger drive at the NFL draft in Nashville in April was a huge success, and next up is an event leading up to the kickoff game in Chicago. On Thursday, the youngsters got to “clean up, and their reward is playing football,” said Melissa Schiller, the NFL’s director of community relations. “They are experiencing giving back to the community in a vehicle with the NFL and there’s lots of excitement.”There was even time for some mascot chasing .Canton’s Seeden notes that communities must build off the momentum from such events because they can lead to more programs. She praised the way the kids “came together” for a cause. And to learn about the sport — plus so much more.“You don’t have to be the best, you have to work to be the best,” DeLamielleure told his audience of youngsters ages 6-14. “Character is more important than football. When nobody is around and you’re looking in the mirror, you know the truth for how you’ve been behaving. That’s what football teaches you, what it taught me.”

Washington left tackle Trent Williams is unhappy enough with the team to skip mandatory minicamp Dwayne Haskins Jersey White , but even one of his closest friends on the team doesn’t know exactly what the issue is.Asked about the report that Williams is upset with how the team’s medical staff handled a recent health scare, Peterson said he and Williams are close and that’s the first he’s heard of it.“I don’t know where that came from. I talk to Trent all the time and that’s not something I’ve heard come out of his mouth. So I don’t know,” Peterson said.Peterson and Williams have been friends since 2006, when they played together at Oklahoma, and Peterson seemed genuinely puzzled about what is bothering his buddy. Coach Jay Gruden also says he doesn’t know what exactly the issue is with Williams, so whatever it is that has him upset, he hasn’t communicated it throughout the locker room. RICHMOND, Va. (AP)Chris Thompson goes out for a pass route with his right leg on his mind.Eight months since breaking his right fibula, Thompson still thinks about it when running and making sudden moves. Now two days into his first taste of team drills at training camp Dwayne Haskins Jersey , the Washington Redskins‘ 2017 offensive MVP is attempting to get over the mental hurdle of rehabbing from surgery and getting back to normal.”I’m still nervous about just making cuts,” he said. ”I’m nervous about, `What happens if this guy falls and hits my ankle?’ I know it’s healed. I know the plate is there so I don’t have to worry about it breaking. But it’s a big mental game.”Thompson became Washington’s secret weapon on offense with 39 catches for 510 yards receiving and four touchdowns to go along with 64 carries for 294 yards rushing and two touchdowns on the ground. It’s no coincidence the Redskins’ playoff hopes effectively ended when Thompson went down in New Orleans in November.Doctors put a plate and five screws in Thompson’s leg, and he considered the ensuing rehab more difficult than after previous surgeries to repair knee injuries. They told him he wouldn’t be 100 percent until a full year had passed, so it’s on Thompson to manage the pain, his own expectations and his progression along with the team’s training staff. It’s easier said than done.”I talk to the trainers the whole time, especially before practice just to ask them, `What am I doing today?”’ Thompson said. ”Because I know me: If I’m feeling good, I’ll continue to just go. They’re just letting me know what I’m doing every step of the way. I’m just kind of leaving it in their hands and just … kind of being smart about it because I know this is still a journey.”The goal of the journey is being ready for the beginning of the regular season. Coach Jay Gruden on Wednesday said he was confident Thompson would be ready for the opener Sept. 9 at Arizona.”The way he runs Wes Martin Jersey , he looks faster right now,” Gruden said. ”His burst looks like it’s 100 percent back. Only he knows how he feels as far as being 100 percent. … But he looks great right now.”Gruden left open the possibility of limiting Thompson’s workload early in the season because the 27-year-old running back knows he’s not yet close to being back to himself.are glad to get a glimpse of Thompson working his way back.”Chris Thompson’s a key asset to our offense,” linebacker Preston Smith said. ”He brings a lot of different tools to the offense. He can be used in multiple ways. And seeing him out there practicing is a great thing for Chris because I love him, his spirit. He’s a great teammate, a great guy and I always want to see him on the field.”There are several steps left in Thompson’s progression, including no limitations in practice and then possibly some action in preseason games. The next milestone is getting hit by an opponent and seeing how he reacts.”I am not looking forward to it, but I know I’ve got to do it,” Thompson said. ”I know I’m going to be super nervous about it Womens Bryce Love Jersey , but once I get that first hit, whether it’s in preseason or the first game or whatever they plan on doing – once I get hit one time, I know I’m going to be good after that.”NOTES: WR Josh Doctson left practice after landing hard on his left shoulder while trying to make a diving catch. The national sports media will make several ludicrous suggestions about moves each NFL team should make this offseason over the coming weeks, with the Good Morning Football show on the NFL Network likely to be responsible for a significant number of them. As the place that serious football discussion goes to die, the range of topics highlighted by GMFB are perhaps less founded in fact that most football shows. With that in mind Terrell Edmunds Jersey White , it should come as no surprise to note that the hosts of the show were promoting the idea of Le’Veon Bell signing with the Baltimore Ravens during free agency, a suggestion that appears to have piqued the running back’s interest.Much like the Steelers, priced free agent signings, but it would seem that there are some Ravens players who might welcome the move.Even if one or two were surprised by his interested in their team.Having picked up Lamar Jackson as a new follower on Instagram, Bell then gave him a quick shout out in return. And was clearly enjoying all the calls from Ravens fans on social media to join their team.A response that drew even more encouragement for Baltimore. However Womens JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey , given the responses of several Steelers fans in amongst the comments from the Ravens supporters, it would be fair to say that the idea did not sit well with everyone.Expected to have a similar amount of salary cap space to work with in 2019 as Pittsburgh, the Ravens could afford to give Bell the sort of contract he is looking for in theory. Whether they are willing to break the habit of a lifetime and spend that amount on the running back remains to be seen.

His legendary performance on the field changed the way the cornerback position was played and his valued guidance as a coach, mentor and administrator permeated the organization and touched countless individuals both on and off the field. Willie’s loss will leave a tremendous void, but his leadership and presence will always be a major part of the fabric of the Raiders Family.”Brown was acquired in trade with the Denver Broncos in 1967. He would play 12 seasons with the Raiders, heading to 7 Pro Bowls and four times named an All Pro.‘Ole Man Willie’s’ pick six in Super Bowl XI sealed the win for the Raiders and is one of the more iconic moments in all of sports. He retired as a player following the 1978 season and joined the coaching staff and never left. He has been a part of the Raiders organization in one role or another every day for over 50 years. It won’t be the same around the Raiders facility without him. He will be sorely missed.Follow @LeviDamien ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — Oakland’s long trip ended with a disappointing loss at Houston. But after winning two of five games during a 48-day stretch without a true home game, the Raiders still find themselves in contention in the AFC despite falling just short Sunday with a 27-24 loss to the Texans. Now they begin a three-week stretch without leaving Oakland starting Sunday against Detroit, much to the delight of coach Jon Gruden.“I’m going to actually have dinner with my wife Friday night. I kind of miss her,” Gruden said Monday. “It’s been tough. I’ve sarcastically had fun with it. I’ve never seen a team go six weeks without a home game, but we were able to withstand it. We won two out of five. We would’ve liked to win three out of five Antonio Brown Raiders Jersey , but our guys are playing hard. I think all the travel helped our team bond a little bit. It’ll be pretty neat to play in our home stadium.”Since last playing at home in a 28-10 loss to Kansas City on Sept. 15, the Raiders (3-4) got blown out in Minnesota, won back-to-back games in Indianapolis against the Colts and in London against Chicago, then were outmatched by star quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay and Deshaun Watson in Houston the past two weeks. It has been so long that 10 players on the current 53-man roster have yet to play a regular-season home game in Oakland.“Tiring. And I try and do a really good job of nutrition, sleep, all that kind of stuff, taking care of my body and all that kind of stuff, but those miles add up, man Womens Bo Jackson Jersey ,” quarterback Derek Carr said. “I’m glad that I feel I’m done with it, that’s for sure. But there’s no excuse. Like come game time I felt great. I felt fine. But after a while you’re like, another trip, like another Friday we have to leave. Kind of want to take my wife on a date, if I’m being honest. You know, I think being able to be at home, sleep in our bed, extra night or two is going to be really good for our team.”WHAT’S WORKINGCarr is playing his best football since 2016, looking extremely comfortable in Gruden’s offense. He threw for 285 yards and three TDs without a turnover against the Texans and ranks second in the league with a 110.1 passer rating over the past six weeks.WHAT NEEDS HELPFor the second straight week Gruden challenged an offensive pass interference call to no avail. Using up that challenge in the first half might have contributed to Gruden’s reluctance to challenge a spot in the third quarter when Houston’s Duke Johnson appeared to be stopped short of a first down on a third-down pass. The officials gave Johnson a favorable spot and the Texans scored a TD five plays later to cut Oakland’s lead to 21-20.“I’m not very good at challenges Bo Jackson Jersey ,” Gruden said. “I threw the flag very well, though, yesterday. I launched it. I have people up in the press box that are helping me. At that point and time I didn’t feel like it was a challenge we had a chance to win based on the information that I had.”STOCK UPRookie receiver Hunter Renfrow had his most productive day as a pro. He caught a 65-yard TD pass to open the scoring and added three more catches for 23 yards.STOCK DOWNReceiver Tyrell Williams returned after missing two games with a foot injury and had a 46-yard touchdown catch. But it was a couple of missed opportunities on Oakland’s final drive that really resonated. Williams dropped a deep pass with about five minutes remaining on first down from the Houston 45. Williams then had his hands on a third-and-16 deep ball a few plays later only to have former teammate Gareon Conley break it up..INJUREDX-rays on center Rodney Hudson’s ankle were negative, but Gruden didn’t know how serious the injury was. Linebacker Justin Phillips went down with a season-ending knee injury and DE Josh Mauro (groin) and returner Dwayne Harris (ankle) were getting checked out.KEY NUMBER6. The Raiders committed six defensive penalties, leading to five first downs for the Texans. It’s been a recurring problem this season for Oakland. The team is tied for the most defensive penalties with 30 for a league-high 321 yards. Those have led to 25 first downs.NEXT STEPSThe Raiders begin a three-game homestand Sunday against Detroit.

ENGLEWOOD Womens Bradley Chubb Jersey , Colo. (AP) — The Denver Broncos are the first team in the NFL to kick off training camp Thursday, and they’ll do it with Emmanuel Sanders on hand and also Drew Lock .Sanders won’t be full-go as he continues his comeback from a torn Achilles tendon last December, but “Emmanuel looks good. He’s not going to go on PUP. He’ll start practicing from Day 1,” general manager John Elway said Wednesday. “Obviously we’re going to work him in slowly.”Pro Bowl running back Phillip Lindsay , who hasn’t taken a snap since suffering a wrist injury at Oakland on Christmas Eve, also will be eased into action.“Lindsay’s ready to go,” new head coach Vic Fangio said. “Lindsay, Emmanuel, we’ll ease them in, but we’ll get them in quickly.”Rookies and veterans reported to UC Health Training Center on Wednesday, a week earlier than usual because of the Broncos’ upcoming Hall of Fame game against Atlanta on Aug. 1.Three other teams — the Cardinals, Seahawks and Ravens — also had rookies report Wednesday but their veterans get several more days of summer vacation, unlike the Broncos.Lock agreed to terms Wednesday afternoon, avoiding a potential holdout. He is vying for the backup job behind newcomer Joe Flacco, whom Elway acquired from Baltimore in yet another offseason makeover.Widely viewed as a first-round prospect, Lock slipped to the second round, where the Broncos selected him with the 42nd overall pick, one spot behind their new left guard Dalton Risner. Lock has to get used to playing under center after hardly doing so at Missouri. After the Paxton Lynch fiasco, Elway views his QB situation now like the Chiefs did with Alex Smith and Patrick Mahomes two years ago, with the apprentice getting to take his time learning and the veteran preparing to be the starter.“We feel like he’s in his prime,” Elway said of Flacco, 34. “At least we hope he is.”Elway said he’s optimistic because new offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello brings to Denver the roots of the Baltimore system in which Flacco excelled early in his career. Also, “anytime you get traded midway in your career Womens Dre'Mont Jones Jersey , two-thirds of the way through your career, you’ve got something to prove,” Elway said.Adding Flacco in a trade and Lock in the draft allows the Broncos “to solidify that position for a while,” Elway said. “Obviously, we’ve been looking for one since Peyton (Manning) retired. That’s always a difficult position to fill. But I finally feel good about that position and where we are.”The Broncos are coming off back-to-back losing seasons for the first time since 1971-72 and while they have another rookie head coach, Fangio is 61 and has decades of experience coaching in the pros.“We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us,” Elway said. “We always have high expectations of ourselves but we just know that the position that we’re in and the last two seasons that we’ve had we’ve got to take it one day at a time and that’s what we’re going to do.“And we’re in good shape, too. I think being in early, having the extra week, playing in the Hall of Fame game is going to help us with the new staff. I think that’s a positive for us being in early.”Fangio’s first camp as a head coach includes an NFL-most 19 open practices.“I think it’s good to have the fans out here,” Fangio said. “You know, the history of the NFL, you had to go to college campuses back in the day because the facilities didn’t look like this. When I first went to the Saints in the mid-80s, we had an 80-yard grass field, OK? We had no cafeteria.“Guys who go to a greasy deli for lunch right across the street. So, you were forced to go to small college campuses to have your two-a-days because they had cafeterias, because they had classrooms and because they had dorms to sleep in. A byproduct of that was fans could come and watch.“I think one of the things, small things, that has driven the NFL to being the most popular sport in the country is that you let people come and watch practice, people that maybe cannot afford to go to the game and maybe get an autograph from a player. Maybe a player shakes their hand and throws them a sweatband or a glove,” Fangio added.“You know, you do that with a young person, you’ve got a fan for life. And football has a fan for life. There’s more to be gained out of that than any advertising slogan or any commercial that you put on TV.” DENVER (AP) — Case Keenum won his Denver debut despite throwing three interceptions to go with his three touchdowns. He can thank Von Miller https://www.broncoslockerroom.com/authentic-drew-lock-jersey , who sacked Russell Wilson three times, forced two fumbles and recovered one as the Broncos held off the Seattle Seahawks 27-24 on Sunday to win for the 18th time in their past 19 home openers.Keenum, who signed a two-year, $36 million prove-it deal in Denver six months ago after leading the Minnesota Vikings to the NFC championship game, normally spends his time between series with his head down but he kept looking up to watch Miller’s magic.“I’m trying to stay focused on looking at the pictures, getting ready for my next series. “But it’s hard not to notice when the crowd’s going crazy and Von’s out there crawling or whatever he’s doing, whatever his sack dance is,” Keenum said. “That’s impressive to watch.“I’m glad I’m on the sidelines when he’s on the field, that’s for sure.”Wilson wasn’t so lucky.“We played a really tough defense, one of the best defenses you’re going to face all year. Obviously Von is a great player and he made some key plays,” Wilson said.Miller, whose best play came when he simply snatched the ball from running back Chris Carson’s arms, said recently that he hates facing Wilson, whom he considers the best quarterback in the game today.“I still don’t like playing against Russell, I mean, running around out there 20 yards, getting everybody tired,” Miller said. “Luckily, we were able to get him before he could get started. That was in our scheme this week, we wanted to keep him in the pocket and (make) him beat us with his arm, which he’s capable of doing. But we’d rather pick that poison and that strategy worked.”Wilson threw for 298 yards and three TDs, but was picked off twice and sacked six times and ran just twice for 5 yards.“He got out of the pocket a couple of times, but that’s Russ Dalton Risner Jersey ,” Miller said. “He’s a great player. He’s going to get out of the pocket, but we kept some of the great plays to a minimum.”Keenum, who threw for 329 yards, only threw seven interceptions last season and already he has three.“I’m really excited about how good this football team can be,” Keenum said. “Because if we take care of the ball — if I take care of the ball, because those are all on me — we’re going to be really, really hard to beat.”SPUTTERING SEAHAWKSAfter Demaryius Thomas atoned for several early hiccups by scoring the go-ahead TD with 11:11 left, the Seahawks gained just 3 yards in their final three possessions, the last one ending with Adam Jones‘ interception at midfield with no time left.“It’s frustrating,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. “Third downs we were lousy (2 for 12) and we didn’t run the ball as well as we wanted (64 yards) and we got sacked a bunch of times. It was not a very clean game for us.”Wilson put the Seahawks ahead 24-20 when he found catch early in the fourth quarter.HOMECOMING KINGBrandon Marshall’s 20-yard TD catch for Seattle tied it at 17 and came against the team he started his career with back in 2006.NO DOUBTING THOMASOne of Keenum’s interceptions came when Demaryius Thomas, who also had three passes go off his hands and was whistled for a holding call that negated a first-down run, never looked back and safety Earl Thomas snared it in his first game since ending his holdout Wednesday.“I thought I had a pick-6,” said Thomas, who was caught at the 15-yard line by Broncos speedy running back Phillip Lindsay. No matter: Six seconds later, rookie tight end Will Dissly blew past rookie linebacker Bradley Chubb and hauled in the 15-yard TD pass.“Just glad to get through the first game and get that out of the way,” said Earl Thomas, who returned to the team after his pay-me-or-trade-me demands went nowhere.SOMERSAULT CELEBRATIONDenver took a 14-10 lead when Emmanuel Sanders somersaulted into the end zone with a 43-yard score. That was his first touchdown since Week 2 of last season.“It was good to get back in the end zone so I decided to bust out the flip,” Sanders said. “It felt good.”TWIN TROUBLEShaquill Griffin’s twin brother, rookie linebacker Shaquem Griffin, started the game with K.J. Wright out following minor knee surgery. It’s another chapter in the remarkable story of Griffin , who had his left hand amputated as a child. The Griffins had back-to-back tackles on Seattle’s second defensive series.INJURIES: The only injury of note from either team was Seattle WR Doug Baldwin (right MCL sprain).UP NEXT:Seahawks: Visit Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.Broncos: Host Oakland Raiders on Sunday.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Adrian Peterson believes he still has something left. The 33-year-old running back had his first practice with the Redskins on Tuesday, a day after signing a one-year deal with Washington.“I can give a lot. I really believe that,” Peterson said following his first practice. “I feel like the sky is the limit.”Injuries and opportunity limited Peterson to 13 games over the past two seasons. He averaged 3.4 yards per carry in 10 games last season with the Saints and Cardinals.Peterson remained on the sideline throughout the offseason waiting for the next opportunity, a scenario he admitted was “rough.”His workouts continued. Peterson was in his native Oklahoma when his agent said the Redskins wanted a look. The three-time NFL rushing champion was ready.“I know what I have left in the tank,” Peterson said.Despite his career achievements, Peterson didn’t big-time the workout opportunity. He volunteered to join other free-agent options in various drills.“He’s actually a physical freak Womens Bryce Love Jersey ,” Redskins coach Jay Gruden said. “Some of the backs we had in here were huffing and puffing, keeling over. He was standing straight up. He could have gone for another two hours.”The Redskins decided they couldn’t go forward with their limited options at running back for the final two preseason games and possibly their Week 1 opener at Arizona on Sept. 9.Washington, 28th in yards rushing last season, addressed the concern by selecting running back Derrius Guice in the second round of the draft. Kapri Bibbs offers some depth. Adding Peterson and De’Veon Smith provides more. What happens going forward remains unsettled.“We haven’t really gotten into detail, but obviously they brought me in here for a reason. I’m just going to play my role, whatever it is,” said Peterson, whose is three years removed from rushing for 1,485 yards with the Vikings. He finished with 529 yards last season.Last season’s numbers provided data for doubters who believe Peterson’s difference-making days are done.“It shows me people don’t really know about football,” Peterson said of the naysayers. “When people say, (3.4) yards per carry, there’s a lot that contributes to that as well. I just brush it off and continue to work.”That work began Tuesday with the Redskins.“It’s his first practice. He did a great job today,” said Gruden, who stated he hoped to get Peterson some work in Friday’s preseason game against Denver.“You’ve got a Redskins jersey on. You’re here to compete and make the squad. It’s no different with (Adrian). We’ll just see how he does day after day.”

The drama surrounding Antonio Brown does not appear to have an end.Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Brown and General Manager Mike Mayock “got into it” at practice on Wednesday and the team is planning to suspend Brown as a result.Brown posted to social media a letter from the G.M. informing him that he’d be fined for missing a practice and a walkthrough last month. That came after a summer that saw Brown off the field as he dealt with frostbitten feet and an ultimately futile bid to continue wearing a helmet that the NFL would not allow him to wear.During that process Womens Antonio Brown Jersey , Mayock said that Brown had to decide if he was all in with the team or not. It seemed for a time that the Raiders got the answer they wanted and Mayock recently told NBCSportsBayArea’s Raiders Insider podcast that “it’s been great since then” with Brown.”Per Schefter, posting the letter changed that and touched off another chapter in a long-running saga. Sean McDermott didn’t like the hit that knocked Josh Allen out of the game, and he sure didn’t like the way the Buffalo Bills finished without their rookie quarterback. The Oakland Raiders also lost their QB and a receiver in what’s looking like a lost first season under Jon Gruden. The Bills fell 20-13 in Houston on Sunday, with the Texans getting the go-ahead score when Johnathan Joseph intercepted Nathan Peterman’s pass and returned it 28 yards for a touchdown with 1:23 remaining.Allen threw for 84 yards and ran for 20 before he was hurt when Houston’s Whitney Mercilus hit his right elbow with his helmet after Allen’s pass. McDermott was angry about the hit and complained to officials that it was late.“We talk about protecting the quarterback and I thought it was late,” McDermott said. “But at the end of the day, the officials rule over the game, and obviously, they didn’t.”Peterman threw two interceptions, the second one coming after Joseph’s score.“At the end of the game … he was probably trying to do too much Antonio Brown Jersey White ,” McDermott said. “I don’t want to paint it all bad, but we’ve got to protect the football and make sure we’re smart.”Derek Carr and Amari Cooper both left the Raiders’ 27-3 loss to Seattle in London with injuries. Carr was holding his left arm gingerly after getting sacked six times by the Seahawks and wouldn’t have returned to the game had Oakland gotten the ball back, though he said afterward he was OK. The bigger concern was for Cooper, the two-time Pro Bowl receiver who was evaluated for a concussion after a helmet-to-helmet hit from safety Bradley McDougald. Gruden believed it should have drawn a penalty.“I thought so,” Gruden said. “I’m just hoping Amari is OK. I’m not going to say anything else. I hope he’s all right. He’s a great kid.”Wide receiver Seth Roberts also departed because of a concussion with 11 minutes remaining. The Atlanta Falcons also lost multiple receivers, but were able to overcome their departures in a 34-29 victory over Tampa Bay.Calvin Ridley, who was leading the Falcons with six touchdown catches, went out in the first half with an ankle injury and didn’t return. Mohamed Sanu was sidelined in the second half with a hip problem after hauling in a 35-yard touchdown pass. Also in that game, the Buccaneers lost defensive tackle Gerald McCoy Bo Jackson Jersey White , who walked slowly off the field in the fourth quarter with an undisclosed injury. It appeared the Rams had lost receiver Cooper Kupp when he was carted off the field after wrenching his left knee when Broncos safety Darian Stewart horse-collared him on the Denver sideline in the second quarter. But he made a surprising return in the second half.In other injury news:—Ravens left guard Alex Lewis was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with a neck injury after being hurt in the first minute of the fourth quarter of a victory at Tennessee. Lewis had been blocking on a run by Gus Edwards when he turned away from the pile slowly and went down. him off the field.Coach John Harbaugh said there’s a lot of optimism for Lewis, who was getting a CT scan at the hospital. For the Titans, linebacker Derrick Morgan hurt a shoulder and did not return, and left guard Quinton Spain departed with an injured right shoulder.—Vikings cornerback Mike Hughes limped off in the fourth quarter of Minnesota’s victory over Arizona with an apparent left knee injury.—Browns receiver Rod Streater suffered a neck “stinger” while covering a punt in the first quarter and did not return to a loss to the Chargers. His injury complicated Cleveland’s issues at wide receiver as Rashard Higgins and Derrick Willies were also out with injuries. Linebackers Joe Schobert and James Burgess went out with hamstring injuries in the second half.—Jets receiver Quincy Enunwa injured an ankle on a fumble in the second quarter of a victory over Indianapolis and didn’t return. Safety Marcus Maye left with a hand injury in the third quarter. The Colts, who were already playing without several injured starters, lost receivers Robert Turbin (right shoulder), Ryan Grant (ankle) and Marcus Johnson (right ankle).—Cowboys receiver Tavon Austin was forced out in the second half of a rout of Jacksonville with a groin injury, while the Jaguars lost defensive end Calais Campbell (rib) and tight end Niles Paul (knee).

  • The holdout was a short one. It wasn’t even really a holdout.Rookie quarterback Drew Lock Von Miller Jersey White , the 42nd pick in the draft, has agreed to terms, a league source tells PFT.Lock got the standard deal for his slot. The contract is guaranteed for the first two years. A source with knowledge of the situation disputed the notion that Lock was looking for a “quarterback premium,” in the form of more guarantees or any other terms. That said, Lock will receive workout bonuses for 2021 and 2022. The Broncos hadn’t paid workout bonuses in year three and four for a second-round pick in six years. Broncos offensive lineman Dalton Risner Royce Freeman Jersey , taken one spot before Lock, got those same bonuses — apparently because the Broncos had offered them to Lock. Lock is expected to be the backup to starter Joe Flacco in 2019. Vic Fangio continues to put together his staff. Mike Klis of 9News reported that Denver has finalized a deal with former Bears secondary coach, Ed Donatell to be the next defensive coordinator for Fangio’s new Broncos staff. This move was one that was rumored and discussed ever since the Fangio hire John Elway Jersey , and is finally locked down. Ed Donatell has been with Vic Fangio for eight seasons, spanning San Fransisco and Chicago. As Nicki’s tweet indicates, Donatell is already well acquainted with Denver’s winning culture as he won two Super Bowls as Denver’s secondary coach in 1997 and 1998 as part of a five year with Denver under Mike Shanahan.Donatell is coming off a season where he helped Vic Fangio orchestrate the number one defense in the NFL, and his secondary specifically led the charge with 27 interceptions (five for touchdowns), six more than the next closest team.As Fangio mentioned at his presser Womens Joe Flacco Jersey , he will remain the defensive play-caller, with presumably input from his longtime secondary coach, now defensive coordinator. The coaching hires keep rolling in, and this looks like another strong one for the Broncos.

  • The Broncos’ season is over and with the Senior Bowl going Royce Freeman Jersey White , the offseason is in full swing. It’s the time of the year that NFL teams begin making changes to their rosters to position themselves for the new league year and the free agency frenzy that arrives with it.The Broncos made their first cap-saving move yesterday by waiving WR Andre Holmes. If you’re not familiar with the name, it’s because he wasn’t a Bronco for very long. Denver claimed Holmes off of waivers from Buffalo on December 5th, in the wake of losing Emmanuel Sanders for the season. Holmes then appeared in 3 games in orange & blue and recorded one catch for 5 yards before suffering a high ankle sprain vs the Raiders in Week 16 that ended his season.Unfortunately for Holmes, in the end his biggest contribution to the 2019 Broncos ended up being the cap space they could get back by moving on from him. Holmes was set to count for $1,450,000 against the cap in 2019, but none of it was guaranteed. So the Broncos didn’t incur any dead money with this move, and increased their available cap space to around $41.5M. The Broncos signed Aaron Burbridge to a future contract yesterday, and presumably he’ll compete for a depth role or practice squad spot on the roster this summer. The 2016 6th round pick for the San Francisco 49ers spent last season on the Niners’ practice squad after missing the entire 2017 season due to a badly timed hamstring injury. In his rookie year, the former Michigan State Spartan recorded 7 receptions for 88 yards in 3 starts, and was active the other 13 games. It looks like the Broncos are ready to get into the business of roster building for 2019. It is widely believed that 29-year-old Brittany Bowlen unofficially has been selected by the trustees, and that it’s just a matter of time before the selection occurs.“There is substantial and overwhelming evidence that Mr. Bowlen lacked the required capacity in 2009,” the lawyer representing Wallace and Klemmer said in a statement. “As a result, Ms. Klemmer and Ms. Wallace have filed a petition asking the court to decide that issue, the related issue of whether the 2009 trust — which is the document under which the trustees have derived their power and authority — is valid, and whether Mr. Bowlen was subjected to undue influence.”Wallace and Klemmer contend that their father was first diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2006, and that by the time he crafted the current version of the ownership trust in 2009 he lacked the capacity to do so.The stakes are high for Wallace and Klemmer. Without venturing too deeply into the legal weeds, they could end up being completely disinherited by fighting the trust (which may explain why the first lawsuit was filed by their uncle). So they’re risking their portion of Pat Bowlen’s estate in order to challenge the current structure for determining control of the Broncos, in the obvious hopes that one of them will end up in control of the team when the dust of litigation settles.
